Does anyone know what happened to Alex? (his DA name was: asdfghhjkl)

He stopped posting in 2012 and now his account has been deactivated.

Dear my DA friends

Since my last post the progress of my health continued. I still get the same medication, and it seems that I'll depend on the injections etc. for the rest of my life (and that's ok... as long as I get them).

In November last year I started a part time job (24 hours a week). I like the work and it brings back some normality into my life. And in summer time this year I was able to go to work by bicycle (a normal old fashioned one, not an e-bike). And there were just a few bad days this year, but there were no longer episodes of my illness.

I still dream my jungle dreams every day and I want to thank all the artists and the nice guys here at DA for sharing their art and bringing a lot of excitement into my life. And very special thanks to all artists who are doing artworks about me as the strong and brave jungle girl. This helped so much especially during my very bad times some years ago, and all these fantastic artworks are brightening my life.

I know that some of you were suffering Covid and/or had personal losses in their families and I'm very concerned and my thoughts are with you.

Thank you to all my friends here. I wish you a peaceful end of the old year, and a good start into a hopefully happy and healthy new year – for you and those you love.

Yours,

Anja

Dear my DA friends

Thank you so much for all your kind words and your comments and good wishes!

Just a short update:

Since my last post, the diagnoses is still the same, it's anautoinflammatory disease of my immune system which destroys my nerves especially in my legs and my feet.

They tried out different types of medicine, and I had daily injections until March this year.

In that time I had many ups and downs. Since last year I'm officially heavily handicapped (wow!).

In March this year there was a heavy fall back and since then I'm getting a very strong medicine (thanks to my insurance that they pay for it, because it's really very expensive), and I'm getting additional weekly injections and additional medicine against the side effects of these injections, and so on.

Overall I'm substantially better since May this year. The nerves are recovering slowly, and I'm able to walk longer distances, up to 30 minutes, which is a great progress.

I'm optimistic that it will continue, and right now I'm trying to find a job again.

Looking back at the last four and a half years, I'm very thankful to our health care system. They gave me all support that I needed, and they never gave me up. During my countless stays in hospitals I met many others who suffered a lot of worse diseases than me, and some of them had no perspective, even though they were younger than me.

So I don't complain about anything and just want to express my thankfulness, to whom it may concern.

I know that some of you are suffering badly under the Covid19 situation (or other difficult situations).

My thoughts are with you, and I hope that you get the same support and help as I did.

Take care, you all are important!

Dear my DA friends

In August 2017 I told you about some health issues
and I'm very thankful for the good wishes I got from you since then.

Just a brief update what happened since then:
I'm very thankful to my new doctor I met at that time,  and since then he's truly somehow part of the family.
However all diagnoses and treatments at that time ended in a dead end and from Sept. 2017 to March 2018 I spent most of the time in different hospitals.
In March 2018 after countless tests and examinations they found out that I'm suffering a rare disease of my immune system.
And now, after my medication was changed a couple of times, it seems that I'm on the right track.
The main symptoms are a lot better and my conditions are stable.
But the nerves in my feet/legs are damaged and I just can walk very short distances on my own feet, and I had to get used to sit in a wheel chair.
But my prospects are good, and if everything goes well, my nerves should be a lot better within the next 3 to 4 years. I just have to be patient.

Thank you to all friends at DA for all the support and all the good wishes.

I love you all

Health issues

1 min read
Dear my DA friends

Within the last months I was more quiet and inactive as usual.
I want to apologize that I didn't answer on many messages and notes from you.

The reason for this is: For more than one year I was struggling with some health issues, not knowing what's actually wrong with me.
Last week I consulted another doctor for the first time and it took him just 24 hours to find out about the reason of my problems.
Today we started a therapy and he promised me that in less than 2 months I will be a lot better than right now.

So I hope to be the good old jungle girl soon.
Thank you all for your patience.

I love you all
Anja
